• What happens if one of your workers gets injured while working on my home?

  AM Roofing Solutions employees are seasoned professionals that work year around and adhere to stringent safety policies. We carry a $10,000,000.00 Liability Insurance policy to ensure that you, the consumer, are protected should any accident occur.  Also every employee is covered by WSIB insurance to protect our workers and you the homeowner in such an incident.

  If you hire a company or individual to replace your roof without such insurance you are taking a high risk, and you and your insurance company are liable if an accident occurs.

• Why is underlayment important?

  Owens Corning Deck Defense acts as a buffer area between the shingles and the roof deck. It is a huge safety blanket in a storm due to wind driven rain or if the shingles are torn or broken. It also protects your home from ice damming in the winter.

• Why is ventilation an important factor when installing my roof?

  Ventilation is a crucial factor in the life of your roof. Heat building up in the summer months as well as cold weather of winter will accelerate the aging process of your shingles. Proper air circulation, regardless of outside temperatures, will greatly reduce the chances of leaking, curling, blistering, rotting of the roof deck, wet insulation and many other potential issues.

• What is ice damming and how does it occur?

  Ice Dams occur by continually thawing and refreezing of the melting snow. Masses of ice develop as snow on the upper part of the roof starts to melt. The water runs down under the snow and refreezes at the roof's edge. Ice melts and forms pools of water against the ice dams and gradually works its way up under the shingles to your roof deck, eventually leaking into your house. The main cause is heat escaping from the home.

  • Insufficient attic insulation allowing the heated air of the attic to escape and reach the underside of the roof deck creating condensation.
  • Inadequate attic ventilation or not enough ventilation to allow moisture out of your attic.
  • Install an ice and water shield membrane on your eaves and in valleys as well as all side walls and chimneys
  • Install an under shingle membrane to protect the roof deck such as Owens Corning's Deck Defense.
  • Top up your attic insulation to today's building code requirements R60/22 1/4” of pink insulation is the standard and required minimum.
  • Improve your attic ventilation by adding more vents at soffits and required air vents by building code.
  • Make sure your eavestroughs are cleaned regularly and sloped properly, so that no water pooling is occurring.

  • Do you have recent references as well as references from the past?
  • Are your workers sub-contractors or full time year round employees?
  • Do you have liability insurance?
  • Are your workers covered by WSIB insurance?
  • What safety courses have your workers passed and do they have certificates to prove this?
